Fairgrounds Racecourse in New Orleans is hosting a brief quarter horse meet
I was perusing the 2nd page of the form this morning, looking at the post times for tracks running today when POW, there's Fairgrounds with a mid-afternoon first post. But opening day is Thanksgiving. Everyone knows that! Upon further review, the Crescent City track is experimenting with a five day quarter horse meet. NOLA need a little action to heat up afternoons during the August swelter. Take a look at those fancy slots infused purses, they're giving away. Even I might brave 105 in the shade with 110% humidity and mosquitoes as big as bowling balls for some of that.

I believe that tracks in Louisiana are now required to hold at least a two-week quarter horse meet. That was added when the tracks lobbied to be able to have slot machines, I'm not sure of the reason but it's probably because there are many more people that own quarter horses. Fairgrounds was allowed to be exempt from the two-week rule this year, with just the five day meet. I'll have to try to attend!
Hey Brad,
The Fair Grounds is not starting on Thanksgiving this year. The meet is going to begin 2 weeks earlier. They better get the word out before then.
Brad,
I couldn't find an email for you. My friend at Post Parade told me I should contact you about partnerships. Please email me when you have time.
