Baze Closing in on Pincay

Barring injury, Russell Baze will become the winningest jockey in history sometime during the upcoming Bay Meadows meet, which begins October 18th.

As of today, before Golden Gate's afternoon card return to live racing on Friday, Baze has 9,469 wins, 61 shy of Laffit Pincay's 9,530. I'm guessing he'll reel in the record some time in mid November.

Note: Golden Gate Fields is dark Wednesday and Thursday as Fresno opens. Both tracks will run over the weekend. Golden Gate will offer a special Monday card on Columbus Day.
