As many bloggers are aware, Josh Wolf (no relation to Greg Wolf of TVG) has been imprisoned by Bush's Jack Booted Thugs(tm) for not releasing his unpublished blog notes and vlog media. As Josh continues to spend his nights in federal prison, some of us will gather at House of Shields to swill gin in his honor and hopefully raise a buck or two for his legal fees.

California: Jailed Journalist Is Freed

A freelance video journalist jailed after he refused to turn over film of a political protest to a grand jury was released while a federal appeals court considered his case. The man, Josh Wolf, 24, videotaped a July 2005 protest in San Francisco during the G-8 economic summit where anarchists were suspected of vandalizing a city police car. One police officer was struck during the rally and his skull was fractured. Mr. Wolf refused to turn over tapes of the demonstration to a federal grand jury. A judge found him in contempt of court and ordered him jailed on Aug. 1.
