The story line went something like this.
Pictured, from left to right: Jamey, Dave, Trainer Ricardo Perez, Jockey Kyle Kaenel
Kyle Kaenel cracked wise about the spill he was in yesterday which caused him to take off mounts for the day. Kaenel went head first over the front of this mount, and then a trailing horse flipped over the downed horse. It is truly amazing he escaped serious injury, but does sport some battle wounds, his bandaged ear the most visable.
Hollywood Park track announcer, TVG personality, and occasional jockeys agent Vic Stauffer listens skeptically as the nation's reigning leading trainer by winning percentage, Steve Miyadi tells him how it is on the Bay Meadows apron.
Top trainers Armando Lage and Jerry Hollendorfer stare each other down before the second race. (note the four horse in the background. I swear that horse was eyeballing these two trainers right back.)
In the end, whatever Miyadi was telling Stauffer, he apparently meant it, getting his picture taken after the race.

I'm jealous!
And you can go to In-n-Out on the way to or from the racetrack. That's probably the thing I miss most about California, although I may as well add Bay Meadows to the list.
I don't think these to trainers really try to intimidate each other before the race. It was a $6250 claiming race and the horses woulnd't even know it.
@baloo, next time your in the bay area, give me a shout and we'll play hookey and hit the track.
@sf, yeah, i haven't had an in-n-out burger in ages. i usually only endulge on road trips, but they are the best fast food burger by open lengths.
@gerry, um...you're right. i was just goofing. Lage and 'Dorf were really talking about the possible Bay Meadows closure. I didn't even realize the picture came out like that, but since it did I decided to build a story around it. also, i don't know what Steve and vic were talking about either, I just took the picture. Although Kyle really was joking about the fall the day before, and everybody busted up laughing.
Anyway, for the record, Armando Lage & Jerry Hollendorfer, as far as I can tell, get along very well and their is zero bad blood between them. I just exploited a good picture, that's all.
